BONJ pieces are designed as wearable art — expressive, handcrafted garments created to be experienced, remembered and kept. Every piece carries the marks of its making, from reclaimed materials and hand-dyeing to pleating, embroidery, manipulation and construction. Treat each garment as an individual object rather than a mass-produced product.
BONJ was born from a deep connection with animals and a desire to create something that not only looks good, but does good. The brand represents a movement towards conscious fashion, where creativity, craftsmanship and compassion exist together.
Every BONJ piece carries a story. The brand's identity is rooted in individuality, emotional storytelling, transformation and the belief that discarded materials can be given a new life.
Reclaimed denim, upcycled textiles, organic fibres and considered material alternatives form the foundation of BONJ's design and production practice.
Discarded denim, fabric offcuts and usable remnants are treated as valuable materials rather than waste. Where possible, these materials are transformed into new garments, trims, accessories, patchwork and other objects.
Every BONJ garment is individually worked by hand. Processes may include hand-dyeing, bleaching, pleating, embroidery, weaving, fabric manipulation, boning and individual construction.
Because of this process, variations in colour, texture, stitching, placement, dye depth, pleating and finishing are natural. No two pieces are expected to be completely identical.
Denim is one of BONJ's defining materials. Reclaimed jeans, denim waste, panels and offcuts are reworked into new forms while retaining elements of their previous life.
Original seams, washes, pockets, raw edges, stitching and variations may remain visible. These imperfections are part of the garment's identity rather than flaws.
BONJ pieces are built around a distinctive set of design codes:
* Conceptual storytelling
* Transformability
* Sculptural volume
* Curved seams
* Textile intricacy
* Hand-dyeing
* Boning and structure
* Zippers as a visual identity
* Reclaimed denim
* Irregularity and impact
* Hidden storage
* Unisex silhouettes
The design should feel expressive, unconventional and tactile while maintaining a strong relationship between form, function and story.
Many BONJ garments use exaggerated volume, pleating, gathered fabric, structured silhouettes, curved construction and layered surfaces.
The garment may intentionally change its appearance through movement, opening, folding, zippers or styling. Functional elements such as pockets and adjustable components are integrated into the design rather than treated as secondary details.
BONJ creates a number of garments with unisex silhouettes and adjustable proportions. Pieces may use oversized, sculptural or adaptable forms to allow different ways of wearing and styling.
Where a garment offers adjustable sizing or custom sizing, the available measurements should be followed carefully rather than assuming conventional sizing.
BONJ treats every piece of usable fabric as material with value.
Offcuts, scraps and smaller remnants may be transformed into patchwork, trims, accessories, embroidery elements or new objects. The objective is to minimise unnecessary material waste while allowing the history of the material to remain visible.
Each garment should be understood as an individual piece.
Variations in denim shade, wash, texture, embroidery, stitching, dye placement, panel arrangement, pleating and finishing may occur naturally because of the handcrafted process.
These variations contribute to the uniqueness and identity of the garment.
Follow the care requirements of the specific material used in each garment. Avoid treating handcrafted, dyed, embroidered, structured or reclaimed pieces as conventional mass-produced clothing.
When cleaning or storing a piece, consider its construction, surface manipulation, embellishment and material composition first.
BONJ's approach extends beyond the garment itself. The brand states that *5% of every BONJ order goes towards a stray welfare fund*, extending the impact of each purchase beyond the person wearing the garment.
The brand's sustainability approach combines conscious materials, upcycling, zero-waste practices and handcrafted production.
BONJ garments should be presented as *wearable art rather than ordinary clothing*.
When photographing, filming or presenting a piece:
* Highlight texture and craftsmanship.
* Show the construction details and material manipulation.
* Capture movement where the garment has volume or transformability.
* Make zippers, seams, pleats, embroidery and irregularities visible.
* Preserve the original colour and texture of the garment.
* Avoid presenting natural handcrafted variations as defects.
* Maintain a conceptual, artistic and storytelling-led visual approach.
BONJ communication should feel:
Conceptual · Emotional · Artistic · Conscious · Experimental · Sculptural · Story-driven
The brand should communicate the story behind the garment as much as the garment itself. Every piece should feel connected to its material, process, craftsmanship and purpose.
Do not make BONJ feel mass-produced.
Every garment should retain the feeling that it has been individually imagined, manipulated and constructed by hand. Its irregularities, imperfections, reclaimed materials and visible processes are part of what makes the piece BONJ.
